The challenge

Dating back to the 1470s, Provan Hall had been closed to the public since the 1980s. Failed repairs and water ingress had damaged the roof and masonry walls. We needed to maintain its significance while updating facilities, working alongside Friends of Provan Hall, Glasgow Building Preservation Trust, Glasgow City Council, Seven Lochs Partnership and the National Trust for Scotland.

Our solution

Externally: structural timber repairs to the roof, re-slating and masonry repointing. Internally: modern paints removed, masonry re-pointed and lime-washed. Windows were repaired or replaced, doors refurbished, and a host of new facilities provided so the building could fulfil its new purpose as a community hub.

Provan Hall

“Provan Hall looks amazing after its sympathetic restoration, and it is a fantastic community asset. It really is an architectural gem with an astonishing wealth of history which has been preserved for future generations to enjoy.”
